Multi-page Documents - Automatic Detection


SmartSoft Invoices supports multi-page documents. When you import or scan multiple pages, the software detects which pages belong to the same document and groups them together.

To turn off this feature on and off, go to Tools -> Settings -> General -> Enable automatic document merge.

You can select among one of several page association modes:

  • Auto - the software uses clues such as page numbering, document number, etc. If there are not enough such clues in your documents, the software might be unable to correctly group pages into documents. In this case you can manually group the pages.
  • Merge pages from one file - all the pages in a file are considered one document.
  • Check-based merge - A page containing a check/cheque marks the start of a document. All subsequent pages are part of the same document.
  • Use barcode separators - The software will automatically merge documents until it detects a specific bar code. If a page contains only a bar code it will be removed, it also means the start of a new document. To set the value for the barcode click Settings next to the Merge mode drop-down list. Download a sample barcode separator page with a barcode value of "barcode". You can print it out and use it as a document separator.

Note: The settings button next to the merge modes can only be used with the Bar-code separation.
