Customizing Data Fields

SmartSoft Invoices allows you to customize the data extraction process and the user interface in order to fit the specifics of your business process.

You can change the appearance and layout of the data fields by adding additional fields of various types, define custom validation rules, and field dependencies.

To start the Field Designer , go to File-->Edit Form Templates

Reordering the Fields

To reorder the fields on the input form use the Move Up and Move Down buttons.

Creating a New Form Templates

To create a new form template click the Add button in the Field Templates frame. When creating a new template the software will let you use one of the existing templates to start from.

Select the Use as default document template check box and then load new document to switch to your new form template.

Testing a Template

Click the Preview button to test your new form while editing. The validation rules and expressions work in preview mode.

Working with Multiple Form Templates

You can create and use more than one form layouts for different document types. For example you might want to be able to process both invoices and purchase orders.

Importing and Exporting a Form Template

A form template is stored as a file with an .FTF extension, so it is easily portable. You might want to create a template and install it on all your computers. Or our support staff can create a template for you and send an FTF file to you to import.
