Creating Bookmarks (Table of
Contents)
With Smart PDF Converter, you can create a table of contents or
bookmarks (internal links) in a PDF document. Using these links,
your readers will be able to easily access any part of a large
document.
Click Bookmarks on the Tools tab. A new window
will open prompting you to select a PDF file.
You can edit an existing table of contents or create a new
one.
- Creating a new bookmark
-
To create a new entry, click Add Bookmark. A new entry
will appear and you will probably want to change its name. Just
click on the new bookmark and type its new name.
Next you need to set the bookmark to point to a particular page.
Select the bookmark, and then in the Page box, type the
number of the corresponding page, or adjust it using the small
triangle buttons. Alternatively, use the arrow buttons under the
built-in PDF viewer to find the page you need. Click Set to
make the bookmark point to the selected page.

while dragging the bookmark.
- Deleting Bookmarks
-
To delete a bookmark, select it and click Delete
bookmark.
- Renaming Bookmarks
-
To rename an existing bookmark, highlight it by single-clicking
on it. Once highlighted, wait a few seconds and click the bookmark
again. A box should appear surrounding its name and you will be
able to rename it.
Another option is to select the bookmark and then press
F2.
A third option would be to select the bookmark and then click
Edit bookmark.
- Finding a bookmark
-
In a large table of contents, it may be difficult to find a
particular bookmark. Type part of the name of the bookmark in the
Find bookmark box and click Find. Clicking
Find repeatedly will iterate through all bookmarks that have
that text as part of their names.
- Saving the bookmarks (table of contents)
-
Click Save As to save the PDF with the new bookmarks.
