Q. How do I convert PDF documents to another format?

Simply choose the file you wish to convert, select your desired output format and a destination folder and click Convert.

Q. How do I convert files to PDF format?

You can use Smart PDF Converter Pro as a virtual printer. Rather than printing a physical paper sheet, your files are saved to the disk in PDF format. Follow these steps:

1. Open the file you wish to convert with your preferred editor. For instance, open Microsoft Word for .DOC files or Microsoft Excel for .XLS.
2. Click File and then Print. You do not need a printer connected to your computer.
3. From the list of available printers, choose SmartSoft PDF Printer and click OK. This will create a PDF document.

Important: Conversion to PDF is available in the Pro version only.

Q. After purchasing the application, can I install it on both my home and work computers?

Yes. Upon purchase, you will receive a setup file which you can use to install the program on your PCs.

Q. Will I receive a backup CD?

If you subscribe to the Support & Maintenance plan, you will receive a free backup CD. You can also choose to order a CD without purchasing the S&P plan.

Q. How long is my license valid?

Your license for Smart PDF Converter is non-expirable. Once purchased, the application can be used for as long as you wish.

Q. How can I convert scanned PDF documents?

Simply open the scanned PDF document in Smart PDF Converter and click Convert. The OCR option is turned on automatically to convert the scanned text and images into another format. To manually turn the OCR option on, click Settings, go to the Word Options tab, and set the Perform OCR option to Always.

Q. I have already converted a PDF document into a DOC file, but certain objects are not placed properly. How can I fix this?

Start Smart PDF Convertor, click Advanced Settings, then click the DOC tab, and select the Exact method. Convert your file again for a final document that will look exactly like the original.

Q. I am having difficulties editing the converted Word files. How can I fix this?

Start the software, click Advanced Settings, then click the DOC tab, select the Flowing method and convert the document again.

Q. What are the limitations of the trial version?

The trial version of the software converts the first three pages of the document.

Q. How does the Support and Maintenance plan work?

The S&P provides one year of free upgrades to your software, a free backup CD, as well as e-mail and phone support. If you purchase the plan, you will receive priority technical support.

Q. How can I get software upgrades?

You can receive our product updates via our newsletter system. Our newsletters are issued every 4 months and contain all new upgrades, as well as useful information.

Q. Will I get technical support once my plan has expired?

Yes. Users who have not purchased the S&P do receive technical support. You will not receive product upgrades, including fixes and compatibility patches for future versions of Windows and MS Office.

Q. How is the Pro different than the Standard version?

With Smart PDF Converter, you can convert PDF documents to DOC, RTF, TXT, XLS, HTML, JPEG and TIFF. With the Pro version, you can additionally convert these formats to PDF – in this way Smart PDF Converter can be used as a PDF editor. The Pro version also comes with many PDF tools, that let you split and merge PDF files, insert and extract pages, insert bookmarks, watermarks and stamps, password protect and encrypt PDF documents and digitally sign PDF files.

Q. When I purchased the Support and Maintenance plan, I forgot to fill in my shipping info. What do I do?

With your receipt, you will receive a link that will allow you to fill in your shipping information and receive your CD.

Q. Can I buy Smart PDF Converter without a credit card?

Yes. We accept various payment methods, such as by check, via Paypal, PO, and more.
